those blue bags are the best! (and other adventures)

So here I am in my 12th week of pregnancy with this little one and the adventures continue..

The cravings continue.. this week donuts got me, I actually ended up running to the donut shop down the street for a craving of a donut and followed it up with a pickle. LOL ahhhh hormones! I even kept it down!!! LOL

The "multiple times a day nausea and vomiting" saga continues.. this week's adventure included another trip to urgent care for a fever and dehydration. Once I stopped vomiting they checked my blood pressure and it was 97/50 and then 83/47. I got a couple liters of various IV fluids and electrolytes and before I left my BP came back up a little to around 100/50. I was so lightheaded that I had my mom drive me to urgent care because I was afraid of passing out (Eric was at work and thankfully mom lives at the other end of our block). Also got some IV zofran which took the edge off and after a consult with my OB Reglan was added to my repertoire.

Oh and those blue bags I mentioned in the title of today's blog.. I'm talking about barf bags. SO much nicer than trash cans and toilets for us frequent ralphers.

In between all the barfing it's important to keep a sense of humor ;) this is from a pregnancy app I have called wee mail. I get "messages from my growing baby" everyday LOL they never fail to crack me up!

Equally as important is to keep my eye on the prize.. this is a plastic model of a baby in the 12th week of gestation. I'm convinced our baby is WAY cuter than this plastic one but at least it shows how big our Punkin is right now :)

How far along?
11 weeks 3 days... only 4 days until the 2nd trimester!!!

How big is Baby?
about the size of a plum, 2.5 inches crown to rump length

Weight Gain?
I haven't gained anymore, probably related to the barfiness LOL

 Gender?
We will find out gender in about 3 weeks!

Maternity Clothes?
yep been wearing the maternity pants and shorts a friend gave me, I can't close my old pre-pregnancy ones anymore. Still wearing regular tops though

Stretch Marks?
LOL already had em

 Sleep?
with the help of Zofran (OB approved prescription anti-nausea med) I've slept decently the last couple nights! YAY!

Symptoms?
nausea, vomiting, nausea, and vomiting. LOL also been very lightheaded, exhausted beyond any exhaustion I've ever felt in my life (probably made worse by getting so dehydrated this week), tons of food cravings, and very emotional. Actually if you can name a pregnancy symptom, odds are I've got it right now. I'll leave out all the gory details LOL

Movement?
I felt a teeny flutter again this week but other than that nothing. I can tell baby is moving around like crazy in there because each time I've listened to baby's heartbeat with my doppler you can hear it nice and loud then it sounds like it's getting further away and if I move the wand to the other side of my belly I'll hear it loud again. Then it'll fade and 5 seconds later get loud again. I can just picture baby doing backflips and spins LOL

Food Cravings?
let's see.. this week it was oranges, donuts, fish and chips, chicken (which I took one bite of and suddenly thought it was the grossest thing I've ever seen in my life so I threw it up LOL), chocolate ice cream, peanut butter and bananas, PICKLES!! and sushi (again)

Labor Signs?
not even close yet

Belly Button in or out?
still innie. Don't think that'll change for a LONG time to come

What I miss?
not feeling horribly nauseated and throwing up multiple times a day.. however I would do this over and over if I had to because this baby is already my world! just gotta get through it and keep my eye on the prize!

What I am looking forward to?
next OB appointment on July 5th and then finding out gender the weekend of July 20 :)

Best moment of the week?
the urgent care doctor telling me that he wanted to write me off work for 2 days because he wanted me to rest. I was so grateful for a break to just rest that I started crying LOL I can't explain how exhausted I've felt these last few weeks.. although mommies will understand.

another week, a little bit bigger belly!

well I had THOUGHT that the nausea and exhaustion was easing up but it seems I was wrong LOL this week my nausea got much worse actually and I think I've now thrown up in all 4 corners of Redlands and Yucaipa. Zofran, peppermint candies, Sprite, meditation, and distraction are saving me but even with everything I'm doing to stave off the nausea I still throw up at least a couple times a day. I think there's a whole team of friends out there who are currently voting "girl" because of how sick I've been haha "Morning sickness" seems to run in my family and both my mom and gramma had reallllllly bad morning sickness for a large part of their first pregnancies so maybe it's a genetic thing? Whatever the reason it's just something I'm learning to live with. I'm AMAZED that I've been able to keep working full time but somehow you just do it.. just like Nike says. LOL I've started looking at the nausea as something I need to work around so I have gotten good at throwing up and taking 5 minute mini-naps between seeing patients (I'm a home health RN) and keeping peppermint or cinnamon candies in my mouth while I'm in a patient's home. LOL

Despite feeling nauseated most of the time I have also felt starving hungry too! hahaha I've been having intense cravings for everything from sushi to chinese food to fruit salad to swai fish. My husband has been awesome about me eating whatever sounds like it will stay down at any given moment LOL

This week I SWEAR I felt baby move. I had thought it was impossible to feel movement this early but I'm assured that some women DO feel very light movement as early as 10-11 weeks. Night before last I laid in bed on my back and felt the weirdest sensation right where my uterus is. It didn't feel like gas, actually it didn't feel like anything I've ever felt before. It was a light fluttery bubbly feeling and only for a second at a time. It was amazing.

How far along? 10 weeks 5 days

Baby is the size of a: a lime (2 inches from crown to rump). Baby is in a growth spurt this week and next!

Total weight gain: 4 lbs (haven't gained anymore this week)

Best moment of the week: laying on my back in bed and realizing my belly is sticking out :)  also had a good friend give me a bunch of maternity clothes this week and I'm in heaven because they are so comfortable!!!

Sleep? depends on the nausea LOL a lot of my morning sickness actually hits the worst at night.. but some nights I think I just get so tired I pass out anyway ;)

Movement?  I swear I felt a teeny something this week. It's rare to feel anything this early but I'm convinced it was baby.

Cravings? OMG yes. Swai fish, salmon, sushi, fruit salad (I made a HUGE fruit salad one night because I was craving it! LOL), string cheese, pizza, chow mein, and orange juice.

Anything make you queasy or sick? there's no rhyme or reason to it. I feel sick every day but at random times, when I smell something, when I smell nothing... LOL

Gender: I think more people are guessing girl at this point because of how much nausea I'm having but we do not know still...

Aches & Pains: been feeling lots of "stretching" going on this week, even to the point of lower back pain and hip pain

Happy or Moody most of the time? depends on the moment. I had no idea hormones could make a person legally insane LOL one minute I can be laughing, then I'm crying, then I'm mad at the dogs, then I'm laughing, then I'm floating on a cloud because we have a baby growing, then I'm laughing at how I just threw up again. Then I grab my doppler and listen to the baby's heartbeat and I'm euphoric :)

Looking forward to: my next OB appointment in 2 weeks.. and the 2nd trimester starting in just over a week :)

both of us are growing...

It was a big week for us. I had my first OB appointment this week (FINALLY! LOL) and got to have another, more detailed ultrasound. They wouldn't allow anyone else into the ultrasound with me so Eric only got to see the printed picture which made me sad but the medical group said it's policy to deny visitors, including fathers, until after 14 weeks.

It was so amazing that I happened to get an ultrasound tech who took the time to show me our baby in detail. I got to see baby moving around like crazy and when she adjusted the contrast n stuff I could make out the baby's eyes and fingers and even it's spine! Our baby was very active and totally looked like he is dancing! She also showed me the baby's heart beating and was able to give me a heart rate of 171, which is a strong healthy heart rate! She said baby and I are both right on schedule!

The OB doctor was a nerve wracking appointment for me for some reason but he turned out to be a wonderful nice man and gave me an overwhelming amount of information during my 1 hour appointment. I also left with a nice tote bag embroidered with the company logo filled with a bottle (baby's first bottle!! LOL) and a bunch of information packets, coupons for baby gear, registry information, etc. I went directly from the doctor to the lab and happily donated about 10 vials of blood. I am currently waiting for a call back from him to see if after he sees the ultrasound report will he still think our due date of January 14th is appropriate based on baby's measurements.

It was also a rough week physically.. even though I now have Zofran for the nausea it seems sometimes it doesn't work. I barely made it through the work day Friday. It was kind of funny actually because I ended up barfing in 5 different places around Redlands while I was out and about during my work day... all on the sides of various roads and once in my car LOL it's funny how I've got a system now and have a purse and car stocked with ziplock baggies and mouth wash and zofran and cinnamon candies etc.. I've had days where I've been totally exhausted this week, exhaustion beyond anything I've ever felt before.. but then I've also had days where I felt like my energy level was getting better. My doctor told me to expect that in the next 2 weeks things should get much better as I get into the 2nd trimester, so I'm crossing my fingers LOL It's been tough to be so sick and somehow keep working full time and training for a new position but I just keep praying and somehow doing it!

How far along? 9 weeks 5 days

Baby is the size of a: prune (1.5 inches from crown to rump). Baby will be the size of a lime by the end of this week!

Total weight gain: 4 lbs (eek!!!)

Best moment of the week: my ultrasound on Friday afternoon, getting to 'see' my baby's face and see him moving around!!!!!!! I SOBBED. It was the most precious moment of my life to this point.

Sleep? eh. Some days this week I got only about 1 hour sleep because I was up all night sick.. but another day I took a 3 hour nap, got up for an hour, then went back to bed for another 8 hours! LOL I'm either unable to sleep because I'm so sick, or I want to sleep all the time. I think my body is super busy building our little human.

Movement?  I got to see our Punkin moving around like CRAZY on ultrasound! I'm told it will be another 6 weeks at least before I can feel baby moving. I can't wait!

Cravings? OMG yes. This week it was shrimp and brussel sprouts (together), cinnabon, strawberries and watermelon, and mango juice. My awesome husband cooked me shrimp twice this week and it was delicious! I'm also craving sushi like crazy and plan on going to get some but will stick with eating something that doesn't have any raw fish in it because my doctor made me promise LOL

Anything make you queasy or sick? it could be anything and everything.. or nothing. LOL there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what makes me sick although I've figured out a surefire way to end up barfing is to go more than 1 1/2 hours without eating anything so I walk around with snacks ALL day. String cheese and fruit and dry cereal saves me. I've still been getting sick this week although it's better because I've been able to keep enough fluids down so that I could avoid having to go back to urgent care for IV fluids, thank GOD.

Gender: no idea but I still swear it's a boy. I had my first baby dream this week, I dreamed that I was at an ultrasound and the tech said to me "congratulations, you've got a perfectly healthy baby boy in there". So while we are gathering lots of possible names for boy or girl, I'm working on finding more boy names to choose from hahahaha

Belly Button In or Out?  still an innie. I have a little bitty bump now although I don't think it looks like anything other than fat to other people. I'm pretty sure people who don't know I'm pregnant (and maybe even some who do! lol) prob just think I'm getting fatter around my belly. I've been wearing nothing but loose fitting clothes and lots of elastic waistbands or maternity clothes. I already can't button my old pants and can't stand anything tight on my belly.

Aches & Pains: hormone headaches kicked in this week, as did a lot more of the weird stretching aches and pains in my pelvis. I'm told it's totally normal that it's increased this week and my body is working hard to prepare to STRETCH. hahahaha My doctor said it's "round ligament pains" and totally expected. I've also been pretty lightheaded this week which I was assured is normal. I have to stand up slowly now and even then I still have moments of wooziness LOL

Happy or Moody most of the time? I'm incredibly happy to be experiencing this and seriously cannot believe it's happening. It's so surreal to me that my hubby and I have a BABY in there!!! I've also had some ROUGH moments this week where I totally had a meltdown because I've gotten so exhausted and tired of feeling so sick and had a few days where I barely finished my workday and then literally had NO energy to do any housework or laundry, which makes me feel useless. LOL I HATE having a messy house but I've been forced to just let it be and let my hubby and our roommate help more. I am so grateful that Eric and Meghan have been so supportive and loving and understanding, even when I'm having a hormone meltdown about stupid stuff. hahaha It's been fun this week for Eric and I to talk more about what we want to do to "the baby's room" and talk about names. It's becoming more real. We even got our first gift of diapers hahaha my mom found an AMAZING buy one get one free deal on them and she and my dad got us our first 2 packs of disposable diapers. We are also looking into cloth diapers and gathering info. It's crazy how much there is to make choices about when it comes to how you want to care for/raise your child!!!

Looking forward to: coming to the end of the first trimester soon and getting a more obvious baby bump!! I'm also VERY much looking forward to having more energy soon so I can go see some of my girlfriends more often after work! I've been missing my weekly girl time but have been so exhausted that I haven't been able to make it! Love my friends! :)

Baby Lambert Due January 2014!

We are expecting!! After being married less  than 2 months I woke up incredibly nauseated one morning and took a pregnancy test... positive!! I then proceeded to take 7 more tests over the next few days "just to make sure" and then on Mother's Day 2013 we announced it. We just didn't feel the need to wait to share our joy. Today I am in my 9th week of pregnancy and have gotten to see the baby and heartbeat on ultrasound. It was in that moment my entire world changed somehow. I never thought I would get to experience pregnancy or be a mother so this is an exciting new path in our journey!!

Baby Lambert's First Photos

How far along? 8 weeks 4 days

Baby is the size of a: green olive

Total weight gain: 1.5 lbs

Best moment of the week: it was Saturday, we got to have our first ultrasound and it was amazing to see that there was a baby in there with a heartbeat!! I'm already in love.

Sleep? I can't get enough.. literally. My "morning sickness" has been keeping me awake at night with severe nausea and vomiting. I am very grateful for the occasional nap and the nights that I get some rest!

Movement?  I read that the baby is moving all around in there but it's still too early to feel it.

Cravings? OMG yes. Chicken, mexican food, cheetos, fat free milk, pizza, bananas, kiwi, sprite, and froot loops. Oh and unfortunately I am craving sushi.. which I can't eat now that I'm pregnant. LOL

Anything make you queasy or sick? random smells including cigarette smoke and car exhaust. Also tangy foods are gross to me right now and so is plain water.

Gender: don't know yet.. although I have a sneaking suspicion it might be a boy!

Belly Button In or Out?  still an innie but just barely starting to get a "baby bump". Started wearing some maternity clothes here and there this week because I can't zip up my jeans anymore LOL

Aches & Pains: just nausea.. lots and lots of nausea. Ended up finally going to urgent care today because I'd gotten so dehydrated that I needed Zofran and IV fluids. Zofran is my new friend.

Happy or Moody most of the time? I am over the moon happy, although I'm sure my husband will tell you I have been very moody the last couple weeks. Pregnancy is funny.. one minute happy, next minute crying at a commercial, then willing to kill someone to get a donut or some rice, then crying again because you are so nauseated you can't eat what you are craving, then happy again because you are pregnant. LOL my poor husband.

Looking forward to: doctor appointment this week and hopefully another ultrasound and I hope we get to hear the heartbeat this time instead of just seeing it :)
