It was a big week for us. I had my first OB appointment this week (FINALLY! LOL) and got to have another, more detailed ultrasound. They wouldn't allow anyone else into the ultrasound with me so Eric only got to see the printed picture which made me sad but the medical group said it's policy to deny visitors, including fathers, until after 14 weeks.
It was so amazing that I happened to get an ultrasound tech who took the time to show me our baby in detail. I got to see baby moving around like crazy and when she adjusted the contrast n stuff I could make out the baby's eyes and fingers and even it's spine! Our baby was very active and totally looked like he is dancing! She also showed me the baby's heart beating and was able to give me a heart rate of 171, which is a strong healthy heart rate! She said baby and I are both right on schedule!
The OB doctor was a nerve wracking appointment for me for some reason but he turned out to be a wonderful nice man and gave me an overwhelming amount of information during my 1 hour appointment. I also left with a nice tote bag embroidered with the company logo filled with a bottle (baby's first bottle!! LOL) and a bunch of information packets, coupons for baby gear, registry information, etc. I went directly from the doctor to the lab and happily donated about 10 vials of blood. I am currently waiting for a call back from him to see if after he sees the ultrasound report will he still think our due date of January 14th is appropriate based on baby's measurements.
It was also a rough week physically.. even though I now have Zofran for the nausea it seems sometimes it doesn't work. I barely made it through the work day Friday. It was kind of funny actually because I ended up barfing in 5 different places around Redlands while I was out and about during my work day... all on the sides of various roads and once in my car LOL it's funny how I've got a system now and have a purse and car stocked with ziplock baggies and mouth wash and zofran and cinnamon candies etc.. I've had days where I've been totally exhausted this week, exhaustion beyond anything I've ever felt before.. but then I've also had days where I felt like my energy level was getting better. My doctor told me to expect that in the next 2 weeks things should get much better as I get into the 2nd trimester, so I'm crossing my fingers LOL It's been tough to be so sick and somehow keep working full time and training for a new position but I just keep praying and somehow doing it!

How far along? 9 weeks 5 days
Baby is the size of a: prune (1.5 inches from crown to rump). Baby will be the size of a lime by the end of this week!
Total weight gain: 4 lbs (eek!!!)

Best moment of the week: my ultrasound on Friday afternoon, getting to 'see' my baby's face and see him moving around!!!!!!! I SOBBED. It was the most precious moment of my life to this point.
Sleep? eh. Some days this week I got only about 1 hour sleep because I was up all night sick.. but another day I took a 3 hour nap, got up for an hour, then went back to bed for another 8 hours! LOL I'm either unable to sleep because I'm so sick, or I want to sleep all the time. I think my body is super busy building our little human.
Movement? I got to see our Punkin moving around like CRAZY on ultrasound! I'm told it will be another 6 weeks at least before I can feel baby moving. I can't wait!
Cravings? OMG yes. This week it was shrimp and brussel sprouts (together), cinnabon, strawberries and watermelon, and mango juice. My awesome husband cooked me shrimp twice this week and it was delicious! I'm also craving sushi like crazy and plan on going to get some but will stick with eating something that doesn't have any raw fish in it because my doctor made me promise LOL
Anything make you queasy or sick? it could be anything and everything.. or nothing. LOL there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what makes me sick although I've figured out a surefire way to end up barfing is to go more than 1 1/2 hours without eating anything so I walk around with snacks ALL day. String cheese and fruit and dry cereal saves me. I've still been getting sick this week although it's better because I've been able to keep enough fluids down so that I could avoid having to go back to urgent care for IV fluids, thank GOD.

Gender: no idea but I still swear it's a boy. I had my first baby dream this week, I dreamed that I was at an ultrasound and the tech said to me "congratulations, you've got a perfectly healthy baby boy in there". So while we are gathering lots of possible names for boy or girl, I'm working on finding more boy names to choose from hahahaha
Belly Button In or Out? still an innie. I have a little bitty bump now although I don't think it looks like anything other than fat to other people. I'm pretty sure people who don't know I'm pregnant (and maybe even some who do! lol) prob just think I'm getting fatter around my belly. I've been wearing nothing but loose fitting clothes and lots of elastic waistbands or maternity clothes. I already can't button my old pants and can't stand anything tight on my belly.
Aches & Pains: hormone headaches kicked in this week, as did a lot more of the weird stretching aches and pains in my pelvis. I'm told it's totally normal that it's increased this week and my body is working hard to prepare to STRETCH. hahahaha My doctor said it's "round ligament pains" and totally expected. I've also been pretty lightheaded this week which I was assured is normal. I have to stand up slowly now and even then I still have moments of wooziness LOL
Happy or Moody most of the time? I'm incredibly happy to be experiencing this and seriously cannot believe it's happening. It's so surreal to me that my hubby and I have a BABY in there!!! I've also had some ROUGH moments this week where I totally had a meltdown because I've gotten so exhausted and tired of feeling so sick and had a few days where I barely finished my workday and then literally had NO energy to do any housework or laundry, which makes me feel useless. LOL I HATE having a messy house but I've been forced to just let it be and let my hubby and our roommate help more. I am so grateful that Eric and Meghan have been so supportive and loving and understanding, even when I'm having a hormone meltdown about stupid stuff. hahaha It's been fun this week for Eric and I to talk more about what we want to do to "the baby's room" and talk about names. It's becoming more real. We even got our first gift of diapers hahaha my mom found an AMAZING buy one get one free deal on them and she and my dad got us our first 2 packs of disposable diapers. We are also looking into cloth diapers and gathering info. It's crazy how much there is to make choices about when it comes to how you want to care for/raise your child!!!
Looking forward to: coming to the end of the first trimester soon and getting a more obvious baby bump!! I'm also VERY much looking forward to having more energy soon so I can go see some of my girlfriends more often after work! I've been missing my weekly girl time but have been so exhausted that I haven't been able to make it! Love my friends! :)
Thank you Eric and Meghan for helping Angel and loving her! Can't wait to see my new grandchild in person!!
